Maths
Arithmetic, fractions, ratio, algebra basics and multi-step word problems, taught to Year 6 standard and beyond.
Your child works one-to-one with a tutor who knows the 11+ inside out. Maths, English, verbal and non-verbal reasoning, timed mocks and honest progress reports, all from home.
The 11+ tests skills schools don't teach in the same way: reasoning puzzles, vocabulary under pressure and maths at speed. A bright child can still lose marks to unfamiliar question types or a clock they haven't practised against. 11 plus tuition closes that gap by teaching the formats, then building speed and accuracy until they're automatic.
Arithmetic, fractions, ratio, algebra basics and multi-step word problems, taught to Year 6 standard and beyond.
Comprehension, inference, spelling, punctuation, grammar and the vocabulary that lifts every other paper.
Codes, hidden words, letter series, analogies and word logic, practised until patterns are spotted fast.
Sequences, matrices, rotations, reflections and odd one out, with a clear method for each type.
We prepare children for GL Assessment papers, FSCE, consortium tests and independent school entrance exams. The plan follows your target schools.
A short 11+ style assessment shows exactly which subjects and question types need work.
Your child is paired with a tutor who specialises in the 11+ format they'll sit.
A week-by-week plan counts down to exam day, balancing new skills with timed practice.
Mock scores and parent-teacher meetings show progress, and the plan adjusts as scores move.
Most grammar school tests take place in September of Year 6, with registration in the summer term of Year 5. Here's how we'd pace preparation for a September test.
| When | Focus | What your child gets |
|---|---|---|
| Summer of Year 4 | Foundations | Reading habits, times tables, core maths and a first look at reasoning question types |
| Autumn to spring of Year 5 | Skills | Every 11+ question type taught with a method, vocabulary built weekly, first timed sections |
| Summer of Year 5 | Exam technique | Full timed mocks, speed drills and targeted gap-filling. Register for the test (usually May to July) |
| Summer holidays to September | Final push | Mocks in real conditions, confidence and calm routines for test day |
Starting later? Children who begin in Year 5 still make strong progress with a focused plan. The free class tells you how much time your child realistically needs.
